Spammers, you can go home now.
Posted on February 20th, 2007 by phiber811, under main.
When running a comment system, comment spam can become a problem. However, thanks to modern comment filtering and such, I go into the MYM back end once a month, and delete all of it. Joy.
So, to the spammers:
Dear comment spammers. You can stop trying to spam my comment system. Nothing is getting through. Nor will it. All comments are screened. All you’re doing is wasting your time. I waste about ten seconds a month, clicking the delete button. I would advise you to waste your time elsewhere. Thanks for failing!
MYM Management.
P.S. Spammers, yes you, you’re all losers.

There was this all too brief moment when those of us who owned intel based macs were on the cutting edge. We had the newness. We had the awesome. But, before we knew it, apple had stolen our thunder with Core 2 machine, glossy screens, and then, the snub, N draft standard airport cards. Those of us first gen people, yeah, out in the frickin cold. How awesome. But of course, where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Apple had stated that the new N draft cards used a 3 antenna wire setup. Older machines have a 2 wire setup. And yes, when I took apart a core too MacBook Pro not long ago, there were three wires. black, gray, and blue. Hmm. The card slot is the same. Hypothetically, it ought to still work. At least, one would think. Personally, I’ve been convinced that a simple swap would work, from day one.
Today. Mac Bidouille translated by HardMac confirmed my theories. They pulled the 2 wire N draft card out of a MacPro and dropped it in a core duo MacBook. Lo and behold, they got the N draft installer to load up. then, they were able to connect to the N draft base station at full speed.
HA! I knew it! Every now and then, I’m dead on. And I love those moments.

A new look.
Posted on February 14th, 2007 by phiber811, under main.
With the passage of time, all things change. It even happens to be true of websites. Go figure that. Anyway, MYM had maintained its old look for more than a year or so. John was never totally happy with it, but it worked. Today however we have a new look. More dark contrasts, some tweaking of the old flame panel graphic, and more than anything, a look John is happy with. In the end, thats all that really matters.
Also, there are some newly added links. Have a look and check em out.

The Updatings.

So there’s a ton of stuff I need to post in regard to Macworld. Everything from the drive down, Ikea, the hotel, the expo, meeting the MacMod guys, photos, the drive back, everything. But as life would have it, I’m not meant to have a free minute to spare. Things have been hectic on the home front, the work front and the family front. With that in mind, everyone take a minute and show some reverence for the passing of my 90 odd year old grandmother. She was an awesome lady.
Anyway, I’ll get to everything in a future post.
At the moment, I’m painting mac mini’s for coworkers, as well as MacBook shells from Speck Products. Hey, Speck people, you should have stuff this cool!
I laid down a midnight blue on a pair of 13 inch shells. I then clearcoated the daylights out of them. Finally dry, I’ve started wet sanding them with 2000 grit paper, really lightly so I dont rub through to the finish. Soon, I’ll break out the Turtle Wax polishing compound, and really go to town. When done, it will be supra fabulous.
I’ve also got a Mac Mini in the works. Sparklescent Rock Star Red for the body. Black for the top plastics with a red Apple Logo. The body is painted, and is clearing. The top I’m doing with decal film. Thats printed, and is clear coating in order to protect the art during the transfer.
Once the art is on the top case, more clear coat. once the metal housing is totally cleared and dry, the wet sandings! then the polishing! When done, it will be one super rockstar case for sure.
With that said, off to forage for food, and call it an evening. Huge update in the near future!
