About time for an update.

I’ve been rather lax in posting to MYM in the last several months. For that I apologize. I really should be more diligent. With that in mind, I felt it was about time for me to catch things up.

Yes, MYM is still technically on Hiatus. With an utter lack of workspace, there’s really no point in trying to paint, or be creative, simply because there’s no place to do so. With that in mind, please dont email me asking if I’ll paint your computer. I’m sorry, I havent a place to do it right now.

Okay, enough said about that.

In other news, Apple launched Mac OS 10.5 yesterday. No, I didnt go and pick up a copy. I went to a Tiki Bar instead. But despite my lack of making it out to pick up the OS, this shouldnt preclude any of you from doing so. Mac OS 10.5, or as we’re now calling it, Leonard, really is sweet. While Apple is touting the major features, some of the smaller stuff is just important.

CoverFlow in the finder, the fact that textedit will open Office 2007 files. A heavily customizable sidebar on finder windows. Soft partitioning of hard drives with disk utility, a revamped DVD player app. Auto-optimizing TCP. Just to name a few. For 129, you really owe it to yourself to pick up a copy.

And now some words of wisdom. The world has been posting lengthy guides about how to upgrade without fail. Its not so complex people. Here’s some simple rules.

1. back your stuff up. Do not argue! You should be doing it anyway.
2. boot from your leonard disc.
3. Archive and install. Dont erase and install unless you want to, and dont upgrade.
4. restart when done, and repair your permissions, then look through previous systems to see if there’s anything you want to save.
5. enjoy leonard.

Yes, its really that simple. If your machine meets the specs, its not hard. I say this because I image and install to dozens of machines, all day, every day. Installing an OS isnt hard, as long as you dont make the obvious mistakes. Now, go buy you some leonard!
